I am not much of a believer in the significance of New Years. Frankly, it's just an arbitrary point in time that we picked to be the place where one year ends and the new one begins.

You can read that as my brother and I should not have existentialist debates under the influence of Tecate and homemade Mexican food.

Buuuuuuut in the spirit of boredom, I have chosen to copy the delightful zankoku-na-tenshi and do an ups-and-downs from 2K8.

Ze Ups:
:bulletgreen: Finishing When God Has Passed You By, the very first novel I've ever finished.
:bulletgreen: Discovering Teague's Artists of the Year -- Laura Marling, Mystery Jets, Noah and the Whale, The Ting Tings, The View, Eric Hutchinson, and so forth.
:bulletgreen: Making Copy Editor on the newspaper staff and not getting my soul eaten by the advisor.
:bulletgreen: Not sucking at being a JM on YWS.
:bulletgreen: Actually getting a clue when it comes to art. Not sucking as much as I thought I would. [life tip: set low expectations for yourself, you'll make them every time. xD]
:bulletgreen: Acquiring Puppy #3 and Cousin #95685096854896038. And no, that is not an arbitrary number. xD
:bulletgreen: Gaining the confidence to be confident with my family.
:bulletgreen: Learning that relying on outlines is better than just diving right in.
:bulletgreen: Learning to drive and not killing anyone!
:bulletgreen: Getting a short story published. :D
:bulletgreen: Cutting down on my swearing and other extremely irritating habits. Also, being less stupid than I was as a freshman/sophomore.

Ze Downs:
:bulletred: Losing my hamster, Speedy.
:bulletred: Mentally failing at life.
:bulletred: Not being able to not shake like a leaf as I gave my dad a couple short stories as a Christmas gift.
:bulletred: Intro to Art and Physics aaaaaaaangst. Because I fail.
:bulletred: My brother moving out. </3
:bulletred: My goddamn job. Those kids are a PAIN.
:bulletred: The progression of my OCD.

And I don't believe in resolutions, but I do intend on writing two novels this year, one of which I've already started. The City Lights Lovers and Fragile Little Things.

I am on a roll with titles.

ALSO.

I GET TO SEE CRAIG IN SEVEN DAYS.

AND I AM SO WAITING OUTSIDE THE VENUE AFTER THE SHOW TO SEE IF I GET TO MEET HIM

*squee*

Fun things this month:
-Craig show
-Creative Writing Club write-in #2
-Challenge Day
-Fiesta Bowl Parade followed by lunch at Macayo's (happiness: reigniting a family tradition and taking the new light rail system for it.)
-Zoolights
-Comicon

And why must the Mystery Jets CD be ridiculously expensive? xD Silly Brits. Zankoku, I feel your pain with the high cost of import CDs.

  • Mood: Sociable
  • Listening to: "Half in Love With Elizabeth" Mystery Je
  • Reading: The Sirens of Titan
  • Drinking: Nothing, actually.

Squee! You have fun at the Craig show, I'm really happy for you.

Oh! Which of the stories have you already started? *for some reason desperate for more info* XD

About high cost of CDs: OMG I KNOW. :| I went on Amazon to look for a DAI CD awhile ago, and they were charging, like $70 bucks for an 11-track CD. WTF. Luckily, there's CD Japan and Yes Asia, which are both a lot cheaper. Maybe there's an equivalent of the UK?

Unable to give a damn. Stopping...

Process failed. Damn not given.
:iconzankoku-na-tenshi:
Er, "of that for the UK." Typing fail. XD

No! I waited outside the big glass doors that said "Backstage Entrance" for like half an hour and then Randy Kagan the warm-up guy comes out with some dude in a baseball cap walking next to him. They walk by and I'm thinking, "No... maybe?" and then they hug and the guy with the baseball cap gets in a car and drives away.

Randy comes back and is like, "That was Craig." So we double check with the security guard and IT WAS CRAIG AND I LET HIM WALK RIGHT PAST ME.

*sobs*

I was a little irritated -- there were only like, ten people -- but I was more irritated at my brother for bashing Craig as we walked away. I was like, STFU.

So now I just need to act out my master plan of publishing a novel and being on his show. *nod* Revenge.
:iconpencilbutt:
Oh man! That's crazy. But hey, Randy Kagan is hilarious as well! And all the more reason to write a novel. You are so crazy lucky, you have no idea. I was this close to seeing him in CA, until I learned that we would be on the OTHER end of the state, SO NO. =_=

In case you can't tell, I've sent a brick of jealousy your way. It's so dense that it's solidified into an actual object.
